Capturing sound examples – Lyndon

There are different ways of setting up and using sound equipment for example, in an audio system in a media room or home theatre or if you are in a band

There are 4 types of signal paths: Transducer, Mixing, Amplification, and Output.

Transducer: (Converts sound into electric signals). The microphone is used to apply the sound, which is made by the voice or by an instrument, which is into an electrical signal so it can be modified by the system.

Mixing: (Adjusts the sound that has been converted into electrical signals).Ā Ā Ā Ā  The mixer is used to improve the sound that has been applied and converted into electrical signals.

Amplification: (Amplifies the audio to drive the speakers). The power amplifier is used to develop the amplitude of the electrical signals, which is received from the mixerā€™s output in order for the speakers to reproduce the sound.

Output: (Convert the electrical signals back into acoustic sound). Front main speakers, Sub woofer, and Floor monitors are types of speakers that are tasked with this job.

  1. Connecting the microphones ā€“ Connect the four microphones each one to channels 1 through 4 with XLR cables.

  1. Turn the power on ā€“ First, set the mixerā€™s gain, fader and also the volume levels of the power amplifier change it to minimum. The second step is when turning the power on, you first turn the mixerā€™s power on then the amplifierā€™s power, and this is to avoid causing any loud noise.

  1. Producing sound ā€“ the examples I will be talking about here are for a single microphone channel. First, adjust the level of the power amplifier. Set it to the 12 oā€™clock position.Screen Shot 2017-10-16 at 14.44.28
